No More Eyeglass Marks
There are many articles written on how to get rid of eyeglass marks on your face but what if I told you prevention is a better way to go? You’d probably think well, I have to wear my glasses so how am I supposed to prevent them.
Over the years there have been several products and gadgets on the market, I know because I’ve tried them all! Of course you have the silicone pads you stick on to your frames. Those work ok for slipping but do nothing for the indents, red marks, pain and pressure to your sinus area. Other products out there usually help one aspect but not the others.
When I started to need glasses for working and reading I absolutely hated it. I wondered if there was something wrong with me. Why do I seem to be so uncomfortable while everyone I saw seemed fine wearing glasses. Granted they do take some getting used to but here I am years later and I hate them just as much as I did when I first started wearing them. The indentations and red marks were one thing, I mean how can I go out after my work day with these marks on my face?? They would sometimes take hours to fade! As an esthetician I would see my clients come in with these marks and would feel so bad for them but now I was one of them. Aside from the ugly marks was the terrible pain I would feel within minutes of putting my glasses on. I tried every frame style and weight that’s out there. Ones that claim to be the lightest on the market but I still had pain and the marks just as bad. I noticed recently I was starting to get more permanent looking discoloration where my glasses sit. I was like, that’s it - I created the most ridiculous DIY concoctions I found around the house. Tissues with tape around, just layers of tape around my glasses, cotton balls, ect. I finally found something called OptiStrips. These claimed to not only help add a cushion, reduce marks, dents and slipping but also to help repair old marks and damage to the skin. Sounded good to me! Immediately upon trying it felt really good. I basically couldn’t feel my glasses at all! The little silicone strip adheres naturally to the skin and basically disappears under your glasses.
I wore the strip all day while I worked. I literally forgot I was wearing them. At the end of the day I removed the strip to get ready to meet a friend out for drinks. I was really surprised. Not only did my glasses stay in place all day, I had no pain or pressure and the real test- no deep indentations or red marks. After removing the strip there was a little bit of redness which it says is normal and that went away rather quickly. I did my make up as usual and for the first time wasn’t stressing out about how to hide these annoying marks. I wear them everyday now, sometimes 7-8 hours at a time and they have made my life easier. I’m more relaxed because I don’t have to even think about my glasses anymore. The slipping and pain alone I didn’t realize how much it affected my focus during the day. I wear them at night as well when I get on social media or reading a book- whatever. They are great and I’m so glad I found them!
